60 Percent of Danes Regard U.S. as Adversary, Poll Shows

(MENAFN) A stunning majority of Danish citizens have shifted their view of the United States from partner to opponent, fresh polling data disclosed Tuesday confirms.

The survey, published by a Danish broadcasting agency, revealed a dramatic deterioration in bilateral sentiment: 60 percent of respondents now classify the U.S. as an adversary, while a mere 17 percent still consider it an ally.

The broadcaster conducted the polling between Jan. 21 and 28, immediately after U.S. President Donald Trump declared in Davos on Jan. 21 that he would not use military force to take over Greenland.

The data exposed that anti-American sentiment cuts across all demographics in Denmark—transcending regional boundaries, gender lines, age groups, and political party allegiances.

Trump has repeatedly voiced his intention to "obtain" Greenland, a self-governing territory under Danish sovereignty, since his 2025 return to the White House. The territorial ambitions have triggered fierce backlash throughout Europe.

Massive demonstrations against American pressure on Greenland erupted across Denmark and Greenland in January, underscoring widespread public anger over Washington's stance.
